The Seely Foundation Paradox Fund Principals Awards Grant Application
For School Year 2025-2026

Please study the Principals’ Award Guidelines below before proceeding.

Applications are due October 16, 2025.  

Requests of up to $5,000 will be considered for school-wide programs.

Requests of up to $1,000 will be considered for individual teacher/classroom projects.  

Funding parameters:

  • Professional development and training for teachers to help them teach
  • Curriculum development/support
  • School trips that are educational in nature and an integral part of a classroom study unit.
  • Innovative educational programs and initiatives
  • Funds for visiting artists, presenters, or special guests that enhance learning.  
  • Educational materials, supplies, and equipment ONLY if they are part of an educational experience
  • Requests for building improvements, maintenance and construction will not be considered
  • Programs to help alleviate the impacts of Covid-19 on student learning (remediation, student support services, etc.)
  • The project supports The Seely Foundation Paradox Fund’s mission to advance the use of art, science, technologies, and social studies in the daily lives of individuals and families throughout Morgan County.
  • Collaborative, inter-disciplinary learning projects among several teachers are encouraged.  
  • Projects must state and address at least two West Virginia Next Generation Content Standards and Objectives. 
  • Project teachers should consider four aspects of student activity and express in the final report of the project how the project lets students reach their intended goals and objectives:
  • Engage   Ideas to be acquired:  Will it grab students by the collar?  Will they absorb, interact, and be interconnected?  Will they in turn be able to share with others what they learned in their own words?  Will they respond by going deeper than just a basic understanding?   Will students be engrossed and involved?
  • Empower   Vocabulary planned:  Will students add to their vocabulary new words that they will use every day?  How well does the project equip them to do so?
  • Enable   Equipment will be useful:   Does the equipment facilitate students learning new ideas? Will it be useful to them in the future?
  • Encourage What is the plan for students to interact with each other, their families, and their community?

Please provide a detailed description of how you will use the requested funds, including expected outcomes, and estimated amount for each expenditure. (Note a final report summarizing grant activities and outcomes will be expected at the conclusion of the school year, or upon project completion.)
Please state how the project fulfills the goals stated in the guidelines.
