These awards were made to Morgan County teachers for projects that go beyond standard rote memorization and encourage students to apply newly learned words and concepts to conversations outside the classroom.

Birding for a Better World – Renee Fincham – for students to understand our role in declining bird populations 

Engineering Challenge – John Brode – Students learn to design cars 

Holocaust Museum Field Trip & Study Unit –-Meghan Smith-Powell and Chase Newton – for sophomore classes at the high school

Reading is a Reward – Summer McClintockbooks for book vending machines in all four Morgan County elementary schools

Bring Reading to Life – Shanna Poniris – for books to excite students about learning

iPad Pros with Apple Pencils – Robert Wallace – for Visual Art students 

Pleasant View Elementary School

Battle of the Books – Chelsea Delph – to help students communicate about the books they have read 

Birds of a Feather – Donna Meyer – collaboration with other Pleasant View teachers to study science,literature and culture through birds

Warm Springs Intermediate School

What a Character! – Christina Rose – to study major explorers and reasons for their journeys with special education students and a co-taught third grade classroom 

Meaningful Mugs – Marianna Ruggiero – to teach fifth graders basic ceramics skills

Chemist Carnival – Shanahan Elmore – collaboration with third and fifth grade students to design their own carnival using scientific principles including force and motion standards 

Warm Springs Middle School

ProtoCycler the Recycler – Amanda Henry – This machine recycles materials needed for 3-D printers in use at WSMS and the Berkeley Springs High School 

Wind Dance Farm & Earth Education Center 

The Earth Beneath Us – a hands-on approach to soil science and geology

2021 – Pilot Program for Morgan County Coach/Mentors

Morgan County Starting Points – Community Nutrition Coach to provide nutrition education for Morgan County, WV residents

Morgan County Partnership – Digital Media Coach to support digital activities for the Wolf Pack News Team, the Berkeley Springs High School Broadcasting Club and other youth in Morgan County.  

WVU Extension Service – STEAM Ambassador to provide STEAM enrichment activities and improve the number of Morgan County students entering STEAM careers

Black Cat Music Cooperative – STEAM Mentorship to augment critical STEM skills with an emphasis on “A” for art.

Morgan County Schools – Technology Coach to impact teaching and learning for every teacher and every child by helping them to learn how to properly use technology in the classroom.
